Thank you for your interest in becoming a foster parent to a Rommie Rescue Sussex dog.
Foster carers are a very important part of our rescue dogs journeys to loving permanent homes in the UK.
- All of our dogs are placed in loving foster homes in the Sussex area when they first arrive in the UK. We allow 48 hours for the dogs to settle in after their journey; they are then treated to a pamper session before meeting potential adopters, so please be patient.
- We are always looking for fosterers, so if you are an experienced dog owner and would like to volunteer for fostering, please complete our Fostering Application Form.
- Foster carers
- agree to take photographs and provide regular updates on their foster dog’s progress. Foster carers can provide vital information to assist with our matching process.
- will allow approved potential adopters to visit the foster dog, by arrangement.
- agree to follow Rommie Rescue Sussex guidance about all aspects of care of the dog.
- Foster dogs are usually delivered to your home by an approved transport company.
- Foster dogs may be with you for a short time, the minimum time is 48 hours. This period of time is known as TRACES. During which time The Animal and Plant Protection Agency may call to arrange to check that all the paperwork, passport and microchip are correct.
- Some dogs will remain with you longer while a suitable permanent home is found.
- Although many of our dogs are from Romania, as a fosterer you may be asked to take a dog who for no reason of their own needs to come back to us.
- We are also registered to take dogs from the local authorities when they are unwanted by their owners.
